Wild Card playoff: Top 3 performance moments

Posted Jan 7, 2014

A quick glance at the highlights from Packers vs. 49ers

With the 49ers looking to add to their 6-0 lead early in the second quarter, Packers CB Tramon Williams intercepted QB Colin Kaepernick’s pass intended for TE Vernon Davis along the right sideline at the Green Bay 13-yard line. Following a 17-yard return on which Williams took on Kaepernick head on, the Packers offense capitalized with a 14-play, 70-yard touchdown drive to take the lead.

Trailing 13-10 early in the fourth quarter, the Packers faced fourth-and-2 from the San Francisco 30-yard line. Under heavy pressure, QB Aaron Rodgers miraculously escaped a sack and fired a strike up the seam to WR Randall Cobb for a 26-yard gain, making it first-and-goal. Two plays later, FB John Kuhn plunged in from the 1-yard line and the Packers had the lead again.

Down 20-17 midway through the fourth quarter and driving, Rodgers again found Cobb on the run for a 25-yard gain to make it first-and-goal. 49ers S Eric Reid made a shoestring tackle of Cobb at the 9-yard line or he might have scored. That tackle proved big, as the Packers weren’t able to get it in the end zone and had to settle for a tying field goal.
