Packers sign two players to practice squad

Posted Oct 24, 2012

The Green Bay Packers signed G Justin Cheadle and RB DuJuan Harris to the practice squad and placed WR Diondre Borel on practice squad/injured. The transactions were announced Wednesday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.

Cheadle, a 6-foot-3, 305-pound rookie out of the University of California, signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a non-drafted free agent on May 11, 2012. He was with the Chiefs during the preseason before being released on Aug. 27. Cheadle played in 47 games with 35 starts for the Golden Bears and earned honorable mention All-Pacific-12 recognition as a senior in 2011. He will wear No. 65 for the Packers.

Harris, a 5-foot-8, 203-pound first-year player out of Troy University, played in five games for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2011, rushing for 42 yards on nine carries (4.7 avg.) and catching one pass for 4 yards. He spent the opening 11 games of the ’11 season on Jacksonville’s practice squad. Harris also was with the Pittsburgh Steelers briefly during the 2012 preseason after being claimed off waivers from Jacksonville on Aug. 27. A four-year letterman at Troy, he rushed for 2,635 yards and 27 TDs on 540 carries (4.9 avg.) and caught 79 passes for 553 yards (7.0 avg.) and five TDs during his career. He will wear No. 26 for the Packers.
