Lambeau Field to host Spooktacular Fun Oct. 20

Posted Oct 2, 2012

Haunted Concourse offered on Oct. 19-20; Coats for Kids donations to be collected at event

The Green Bay Packers will again host the popular Halloween-themed events Spooktacular Fun and the Haunted Concourse this October.

Spooktacular Fun, free to the public, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20, in the Lambeau Field Atrium. Accessed through the Miller Lite Gate on the north end of Lambeau Field, it will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Haunted Concourse this year again is open for two days of thrills and has an admission price of $2, with all proceeds to benefit Sting Cancer. The Haunted Concourse is accessed through the Oneida Nation Gate on Lambeau Field’s east side. It is open Friday, Oct. 19, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; and again from 9 to 11 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 20, hours are 10 a.m. to noon, 1 to 4 p.m., 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and 9 to 11 p.m. Lines may be cut off prior to the end times to ensure no unnecessary waits.

The Haunted Concourse, designed for teens with a PG-13 rating, will be set in a darkened Lambeau Field concourse and feature scenes of high-tech shocks and horrors. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a guardian into the Haunted Concourse, and children under the age of 8 will not be permitted.

Spooktacular Fun will feature interactive entertainment including, magic, miming and hypnotism. Children also will have the opportunity to receive airbrush tattoos and put their artistic skills to work at Halloween-themed craft stations.

Those who attend the event are also encouraged to bring their new or gently-used coats to Lambeau Field to donate to the Coats for Kids program.

The FBI Milwaukee division and the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association, in partnership with the American Football Coaches Association National Child Identification Program, will have representatives on hand to distribute free child ID kits to parents and guardians.  The child ID kit allows parents or guardians to collect specific information by easily recording the physical characteristics and fingerprints of their children on identification cards that are kept at home. If ever needed, this ID kit gives authorities the vital information necessary to help locate a missing child.

“We are very proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Spooktacular Fun at Lambeau Field,” said Cathy Dworak, Packers manager of community outreach and player/alumni relations. “Over the years, we’ve welcomed fall and Halloween with a variety of fun family activities during the event and we look forward to continuing that this year.”

‘Spooktacular Fun’ is one in a series of community events held each year by the Packers. Other events include an ecumenical Thanksgiving Day meal for area needy families, ‘Project LEAP’ and the Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer.
